ALTO UK – Arts Learning and Teaching Online
ADM-HEA is delighted to be part of ALTO UK, a project funded by phase three of the Higher Education Academy/JISC Open Educational Resources Programme http://www.jisc.ac.uk/oer
The broad aim of the ALTO UK project is the creation of Open Educational Resources (OERs) in art and design subjects for staff, students and lifelong learners in the UK and elsewhere. Engaging with OER creation and sharing presents challenges to the Art and Design community where there is a strong tradition of studio-based practice and learning. Traditional didactic resources such as lecture notes and project briefs can be scarce in these subject areas, with the result that there can be ‘gaps’ when trying to create OERs along the lines pioneered by OpenCourseware at MIT and OpenLearn at the OU. Video, image and audio documentation has been found to be the preferred media for capturing and sharing practice based art and design tutorials and resources.
Led by University of the Arts London, the project is partnering with ADM-HEA; the School of Textiles and Design, Herriot Watt University; Jorum Service, MIMAS at University of Manchester; Creative Industries and Ceramics at Kirklees College; Broadcast Media in the Faculty of Arts at University of Brighton; Bloomsbury Publishing Plc; Laurence King Publishing Ltd; and Bright Lemon Ltd., London.
The project will provide each partner with an institutionally branded open space in a social media platform to share these kinds of media rich OERs. The platform is based on the popular open source web content management system Drupal http://drupal.org/ and provides a user-friendly interface, rich media tools and easy integration with the rest of the Web 2.0 infrastructure such as Twitter, Facebook and Google etc.

Revised UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF) launched
The Higher Education Academy (HEA) has revised the UK Professional Standards Framework after extensive consultation with the sector. The Framework is owned by the sector and developed and managed by the HEA.
The UKPSF is commonly used in the training and development of teaching and/or learning support staff in higher education institutions; the Framework can be used to design and structure the development programmes used to train and develop those who teach.
Becoming a Teacher Educator: guidelines for induction 2nd edition
The first edition of this publication from ESCalate has been used to support the induction of new teacher educators in the UK and beyond. But change in the HE sector and in the field of teacher education mean that this second edition is now needed.
Ethical Fashion Forum launches FELLOWSHIP 500
Ethical Fashion Forum (EFF), the industry body dedicated to a sustainable future for fashion, are seeking 500 pioneering innovators in fashion and sustainability to join the Ethical Fashion Fellowship.
Fellows gain recognition, subsidised access to the SOURCE platform http://ethicalfashionforum.cmail2.com/t/y/l/wdidjy/iklhdlttr/n/ , and the opportunity to help shape EFF’s strategy to transform social and environmental standards in the fashion industry.
Fellowship is open to entrepreneurs and individuals with innovative ideas, passion and drive - as well as businesses, from start-ups to large businesses which have integrated social and environmental best practice. A limited number of student fellowships are available every year.

Building on the success of the Change Academy programme, in 2011-12 the Higher Education Academy is expanding its offering of change programmes across a range of themes and disciplines. They are currently inviting teams to submit proposals to join the following change programmes:
Representing and Recording Student Achievement Change Programme
This change programme will help institutions or cognate disciplines explore the development of strategies and infrastructural support to enhance the recording, representation and reporting of their students' achievements.
Assessment and Feedback Change Programme
This change programme will support institutional teams seeking to enhance their assessment and feedback practices.
