HEA Departmental Grant Scheme is now open
Deadline for submissions: 23 October 2011
The Higher Education Academy has a total of £300,000 available with a maximum of £30,000 per project. Project duration will be 15 months and successful bids will demonstrate team impact across the department, longitudinal impact and will include evaluation and dissemination criteria. The hosting institution will be expected to contribute funds towards the project. Projects to commence 23 January 2012.
Basic Guide to Open Educational Resources
The Commonwealth of Learning (COL) and UNESCO published a Basic Guide to OER (2011). This Guide comprises three sections. The first section is a summary of the key issues, the second section is a more comprehensive analysis of these issues, and the third section is a set of appendices, containing more detailed information about specific areas of relevance to OER.
JISC Grant Funding 14/11: Access to Resources and Open Innovation Phase 2
Call for Projects, deadline for Stage 1: Monday, 19 October 2011
The Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) invites institutions, through a two-stage process, to submit expressions of interest and subsequently outline funding proposals for projects that will proliferate good practice in Access to Resources for external parties (Strand I) and Open Innovation (Strand II). Funding for both strands is for up to 6 projects, £80,000- £100,000 each and will be for projects of up to 12 months duration.
Stage 1: Institutions should submit short two page ‘pitches’ which outline the institution’s response to the programme objectives – ‘pitching’ the idea, the partnerships and services / sectors involved.
Stage 2: Proposers shortlisted from the first stage will be invited to the second stage and will be required to present and ‘pitch’ their proposed project in person to an evaluation panel in January 2012 (as well as submit a project delivery plan).
New resource from VADS
Hampshire County Council Contemporary Art Collection
120,000 digitised images from this collection are now available online through the Visual Arts Data Service (VADS). The collection is made up of work by British artists. The majority of the works are original prints and paintings with smaller numbers of drawings, sculpture, glass, textiles and ceramics.
CALL FOR PAPERS / PARTICIPATION
Edited book on movement capture
Call for chapter proposals, deadline: 26 September 2011
This is a call to submit a 500-word chapter proposal of original, non-published material for a book that examines the theory, practice, and art of movement capture, analysis and preservation, edited by Grethe Mitchell. Selected authors will be invited to submit 4000 to 6000 word chapters for the book and will have an opportunity to present their work at the accompanying symposium in the UK (19-21 January 2012, venue TBC).
This project is supported by the AHRC’s Beyond Text programme, which has funded 40 projects to tackle key questions of how we communicate across time and place, using performance, sound, images, and objects.
2012 MeCCSA Annual Conference

Writing-PAD call for reviews

During 2012 Writing PAD will be celebrating 10 years of the Writing PAD Network and 5 years of the Journal of Writing in Creative Practice (JWCP). They will be publishing one volume of JWCP (three issues) in which they would like reviews from anyone in the network who has used the approaches and models that are on their website, or has benefited from workshops they have held in your institution, conferences you may have attended, or articles you may have read in JWCP.
