Design a banner for the MeCCSA Postgraduate Network

Date posted: 11/11/2008

The MeCCSA – Postgraduate Network is asking for entries to design a banner to tell people who they are and what they do. If you’d like to submit a design, below are the banner design criteria and information about how they’ll choose the winning design.

Artwork guidelines:

  • Dimensions – 800 mm wide x 2050 mm tall (bottom 50 mm is not viewable)
  • Scale – ideally should be 25 per cent of the finish size
  • File type – jpeg, tiff, pdf, psd or eps files without crops or bleed at 300 dpi

(For more information about the technical requirements for the banner company, please visit: http://www.fastbannersuk.co.uk/artwork.htm)

Design guidelines:

The MeCCSA Postgraduate Network plans to use this banner to represent the organisation and its members at a variety of functions, including conferences and meetings at universities around the country. As such, they’d like to see the name (Media, Communications, and Cultural Studies Association – Postgraduate Network) and logo (see top of attached pdf) on the banner. Also, they’d like to highlight that they:

  • Support postgraduate students in media, communication and cultural studies.
  • Create peer support networks for research and teaching.

And of course the website address: http://www.meccsa.org.uk/pgn/

Also, they’d like to include the logos for their parent organisation (MeCCSA) and funding body (ADM-HEA), see bottom of the flyer - link below.

And give yourself some credit. From there, it’s up to you.

Judging criteria:

The executive committee of the Postgraduate Network will choose a design at their January meeting. They’ll be looking for a creative banner that tells their story in a clear and concise way. The winner will be highlighted on their website, and they’ll give her or him credit for their work when they display the banner.

Deadline, submission and questions:

Please e-mail design submissions to Shelley Thompson, MeCCSA – PGN secretary, at shelleyt@bournemouth.ac.uk, no later than 5 p.m. on 5 January, 2009. You can also contact Shelley with any questions or queries.

This information is also available on the attached flyer.
