What works? Exploring personal tutoring for student success

Palmer Building, Room 102 – University of Reading
16 November 2010 10:00-15:30

This seminar will provide the forum for an exploration of the role of personal tutoring in student success. A three year collaborative project on student retention and success, jointly funded by HEFCE and the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, has been gathering data on students’ expectations and experiences of the personal tutor system at the University of Reading and Oxford Brookes University. Along with these data, the students’ perceptions of the effect of the role of the personal tutor system on their success will be presented and discussed.

Participating institutions will further inform those discussions by providing input on their own personal tutor systems and their views/experiences of the importance of the personal tutoring role in student success and progression.

Speakers include:
Dr Kirsten Hall (Oxford Brookes University)
Dr Maura O’Regan (University of Reading)
Dr Sue Robbins (Oxford Brookes University)
