Virtual Worlds: can learning take place in a virtual environment?

Virtual Worlds are being promoted as the next big thing in teaching and learning. This session will get behind the hype and look at practical ways to use virtual worlds such as Second Life to enhance teaching and learning. The advantages and issues will be explored along with lots of ideas for how virtual worlds can be used to develop practical, collaborative, team working, project management and creative skills. Case studies will demonstrate how tutors are already using virtual worlds. The seminar will be followed by an opportunity for delegates to meet in Second Life.
