Technology enabled innovation in assessment and feedback

Location:
Oxford Brooks University
Date(s):
5 May 2010 11:00-15:00

Presenters: Dr. Gelareh Roushan and Dr. Milena Bobeva from Bournemouth University

Higher Education Institutions are increasingly focusing on assessment and feedback and align performance indicators with students’ learning experience (Biggs 1999).

The aim of this seminar is to help share practice and discuss the evidence and potential value of tools and techniques in assessment and feedback. Discussions are anticipated to include examples of application of tools in both formative and summative assessment. Examples of practice are aimed to also address the context of both individual and group assessments (Rust 2001), with particular reference to issues related to cohort sizes and timely feedback. Some existing work in the area of assessment strategies will be used to help form basis of the discussions, e.g. REAP

 Views and opinions of attendees will be sought to help form some basis for generic learning experiences that could cross subject specialism and institutional boundaries, this reflects the HEFCE Strategy for e-learning. Also, it is very pertinent to this seminar’s scope that the Strategy document reinforces debate on integration of assessment in the pedagogy and curriculum design and development.
