Supporting the Student Experience: a Welsh Perspective

Aberystwyth University invites participants to a showcase of achievements and enhancements in Welsh higher education in supporting the student experience. The event offers an opportunity to learn from shared good practice and comprises workshops, poster presentations and key note speakers including Professor Tony Cook of the University of Ulster’s Student Transition and Retention (STAR) Project.  

The organisers aim to offer the following workshops and are inviting contributions from colleagues in the form of a brief presentation of developments and enhancements of the student experience in their home institutions.    

Workshops

  • Responsible and innovative marketing and recruitment
  • Induction & welcome      
  • Personal Tutoring        
  • Supporting Students / staff development       
  •  Whole person development: skills and employability       
  • Curriculum accessibility      
  • Peer support & mentoring       
  • Bilingualism & multiculturalism      
  • Widening Participation   

 

Contributions 

Are invited in the form of:   

  • A short briefing paper (1500 words max) which can be presented and discussed in the workshop
  • Poster presentations to take place at lunch time on 20 July 2010.    

 

The deadline for submission of contributions is 17 May 2010
