HE-FE provision is a growing and increasingly diverse sector, presenting key growth opportunities for institutions against the backdrop of the Training and Education Act and the Leitch skills agenda. Currently HE in FE Colleges accounts for over 10% of all HE provision, and FE-HE Collaboration now forms an essential part of the strategy of all colleges and universities planning for change over the next 5-10 years.

This national conference will examine the latest information on strategies to increase collaboration and encourage providers to adopt a more strategic approach to ensure provision is high quality, delivered in an appropriate environment, and facilitates student progression.

This one day conference will:

  •  Map the latest policy developments, trends and opportunities for future FE-HE collaboration

  • Hear developing strategies to support collaborative provision, including updates on: proposed Centres for HE Excellence in FE; the need for colleges to develop HE strategies; revised codes of practice

  • Set out the latest information on Foundation Degree awarding powers for FE Colleges

  • Debate the implications for the quality of UK HE, collaboration and student progression

  • Look at how to prepare delivery partnerships for the growth of 14-19 Diplomas and a pipeline to ensure future student numbers

  • Consider the role of FE-HE partnerships in widening participation and facilitating student progression locally and regionally

  • Examine good practice in the leadership of local and regional partnerships, in presenting a common voice externally

  • Share best practice through interactive seminars examining key issues in depth: effective employer engagement; enhancing the student experience; quality assurance; continuing professional development for staff in partnerships

  • Provide an opportunity for networking and sharing good practice for all those involved in FE-HE collaborative provision
