Assessing the Assessment Experience

The growth of student numbers in higher education has led to an enormous burden of assessment. In an attempt to alleviate this pressure on teaching staff, many institutions have developed assessment systems that are very efficient for quality assurance departments, but are often do little for the learning needs of individual students. For many staff this disparity causes an additional range of emotional responses at the end of each semester.
This HEA seminar aims to explore two projects currently being developed by University of Wales Newport, and University of Wales Institute Cardiff which both aim to provide innovative ways of removing the burden of marking, and to returning the assessment process back to the needs of the learner.
The University of Wales Newport is hosting ‘Assessing the Assessment Experience ‘with UWIC as part of the Higher Education Academy's Wales Seminar Series.
The event is free of charge with lunch included.
